Universal Closing In On Deals With Original KICK-ASS Cast; Nicolas Cage In Talks To Cameo

Jeff Wadlow has already signed on to write and direct Kick-Ass 2, and with shooting set to begin later this year, the pressure is on to get the cast in place. Here is an update on where deals currently stand (including details on the surprising return of Nicolas Cage).

Deadline reports that despite rumblings of Aaron Johnson (and other cast members) NOT returning for the sequel to Matthew Vaughn's 2010 movie, he and co-stars Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are now likely to return as Kick-Ass, Hit-Girl and Red Mist/The Mother [frick]er respectively. Universal has run into problems because none of them had sequel options, resulting in new deals having to be negotiated. The site confirms that all are very near to finalising a deal with the studio, while Nicolas Cage is in talks to make a cameo appearance. Other big names are also being lined up for starring roles in the highly anticipated adaptation of the Mark Millar/John Romita Jr. comic book.

Warner Bros. Wanted Leonardo DiCaprio To Be The Riddler In THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

Screenwriter David Goyer tells Empire Magazine that Warner Bros. was immediately thinking of a main villain for the third Batman film as early as the premiere of The Dark Knight.

The website batman-news.com was going through the online version of Empire's article on The Dark Knight Rises and dug up a couple nuggets of information that were overlooked.

David Goyer said that at the premiere of The Dark Knight, Warner Bros. executives were already talking about a villain for The Dark Knight Rises — “it’s gonna be The Riddler, and we want it to be Leonardo DiCaprio…”.

Also, if you have a basic understanding of math you can calculate that the film will be under three hours based on the information below.

More than a third of the film, 1 hour, was shot in IMAX.

COMICS: DC To Launch New HE-MAN & THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Series This Summer

A new comic series based on the popular He-Man & The Masters Of The Universe franchise will be launched by DC Comics in the new 52 this July. Find out more details from writer James Robinson after the jump.

MTV Geek reports that DC Comics will launch a new six-issue comic series based on the He-Man & The Masters Of The Universe in July. The series will be written by James Robinson and drawn by Phillip Tan and inks from Ruy Jose. The plot sees that "the skull faced arch-enemy of He-Man [Skeletor] has figured out a way to rewrite the reality of Eternia, casting himself as the ruler of Castle Grayskull, and our heroes - including He-Man - as regular peasants with no memory of their previous life. And while simple woodsman Adam may dream of wielding a massive sword, and fighting in battles, he thinks they're just dreams. That is, until a mysterious sorceress approaches him, and sends him on an epic journey to save all of Eternia." MTV Geek scored an interview with Robinson, who discusses reinventing the He-Man mythology and keeping true to what made the fans fall in love with the franchise to begin with. Why Masters of The Universe? I think most people nowadays know it from a somewhat cheesy cartoon, and a somewhat cheesier movie - what draws you to the property? Is it a chance to really go back and reinvent from an almost blank slate, in a way?

I agree to some people Masters of the Universe is considered a cheesy cartoon. However, I know for a fact that a certain generation of people, who grew up at the right time, hold genuine affection for Masters of the Universe. The challenge is to write something that raises the standard for the series, with a cool, modern story that nevertheless honors the fans of the animated series and toy line.

How much reinvention versus continuation are we going to see in the book? It seems, like a lot of these '80s properties, your approach is a way of honoring the old fans, while allowing an easy access point for new ones.

As I say, that's the challenge. Let's just say I've come up with a series concept that introduces the line of characters to new readers in what I hope is a fresh, dynamic and compelling way while honoring what the series has been prior.

Concerning the possibility of the comic series being a testing ground for the franchise, Robinson says, "Mattel has been very supportive to my ideas, I do know that. I'm sure as a company they've got their eye on all their franchises for the best way to make the most of them. I know I would."

PARAMOUNT SETS MICHEAL BAY AND JONATHLIEBSMANS TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES REBOOT FOR XMAS 2013!

Deadline report that MICHEAL BAY& Jonathan Liebesman's planned reboot now has a set release date. Their report also hints at the methods Liebesman and co will be employing to bring the Heroes In A Half-Shell to life this time around..

Since it was announced that Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath Of The Titans, Battle LA) would be taking the helm on a rebooted live action outing for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, we haven't heard much else about it. Well now an official release date has been set by Paramount, and those mean, green, fighting machines will be with us Christmas day 2013..

Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies are proud to announce the release of TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLESon December 25, 2013 (wide).

And please note the following updates to Paramount’s release schedule:

ONE SHOT,previously scheduled for February 8, 2013, will now open on December 21, 2012 (wide).

WORLD WAR Z,previously scheduled for December 21, 2012, will now open on June 21, 2013 (wide).

The budget for the movie is also said to be $100 Million. As you can see Paramount have shaken the release dates up on two of their other big movies too. In addition, In Deadline's report they say "Live action-CGI combo" when referencing the TMNT reboot. Now it probably wasn't too much of a stretch to assume that it wouldn't be four guys in rubber suits this time around anyway, but there ya go. Sounds like Raphael, Leonardo, Donatello and Michelangelo will be fully CGi and live action mixed!

NEW DARK KNIGHT RISES AND BATMAN REBOOT PLOT DETAILS!

im a batmanfan hardcore! and really dont give a crap about nolans films but this is some info i thought id pass along. meh in my opinion sounds lame batman hiding cops in the batcave WTF?  the reboot sounds more appealing! heres hoping robin and batgirl are in it SPOILERS BEWARE!!!  -Miranda Tate is Talia al Ghul. She is the new head of the League of Shadows. But Bane will not be affiliated with them. He is an entirely different villain, with his own supply of mercs to take over Gotham. The LoS are already planning to overthrow Gotham during the 8 year time lapse and near the middle of themovie Talia and Bane make an agreement to join forces. 

-Bane forces Leonid Pavel to build him the Doomsday device we've seen in set photos, and I can confirm that it is a nuclear bomb/EMP machine. After Talia and Bane's agreement, she contacts members of the LoS who are working in the White House (it is implied, possibly as a joke, that the President is in fact a member of the LoS) and other important LoSers to not send in the army or National Guard. They shut off Gotham from the outside world and if anybody tries to get in or out, the bomb will go off. 

-The Scarecrow scene description we've read is true, it is the only way to escape Gotham. The criminals are against the LoS and form an unstable and awkward alliance with Batman later in the movie. Scarecrow kidnaps Talia at some point and holds a trial for her (like in the description). Obviously, some mercs come to rescue her and Bane kills Scarecrow. 

-The bomb will go off at the end of the movie. This is the shock ending Nolan is planning, Batman tries to save Gotham using the Batwing but it doesn't work. The bomb shuts off all electronics in Gotham as well. 

-Now time for some interesting news. There is only one LoS flashback and that was what was filmed with Liam Neeson. Josh Pence doesn't play a young Ras, he plays a Government official. He is basically the guy who deploys Nixon to Gotham and he is the person who realises that the whole Bane/Talia thing is a huge conspiracy. He manages to overthrow the corrupted White House members and begins to evacuate Gotham. 

-After everybody's evacuated from Gotham (and the final battle has already happened), Batman and Bane have their final brawl. Catwoman fights with Talia and after they are beaten, Batman offers to take them out of the city. They jump at the chance, beating down Bats and Cats in a suprise attack. They reach the Batwing (called The Bat) and Bane pushes away Talia, taking the vehicle as the only way out of the crumbling city. The bridges are up. Batman and Catwoman have to work with Talia to find a way out of the city. The way they escape is actully brilliant. In Begins, Alfred tells Bruce that his great-grandfather was a part of the underground railroad and that the Batcave came in handy. And that's the answer. The cops of Gotham hide in one of these tunnels when Bane and Talia are ruling Gotham and that's how the team escape. 

-The citeizens of Gotham go their seperate ways after immigrating to different cities across America and the world. He didn't go into specifics about this part, but he joked that Wayne Enterprises is re-built in Metropolis. 

That's the TDKR spoilers out of the way, now time to delve into the reboot news. WB have only had light discussions about this and are heavily focusing on TDKR. But of course, their minds are flying forward and thinking about the reboot. They really want to reboot it as quick as they can because obviously it's bankable and it needs to rebooted if they want to do a shared universe. They're not looking at actors or directors just yet, but they've kind of figured out a plot of how the movie would go. 

-It would be a reboot, but the origin is told in flashbacks. It would show off Batman's detective side, by choosing a heavily-wanted villain for TDKR.... 

-That's right, The Riddler is the planned villain. Riddler would leave puzzles for Batman to solve and if he got them wrong, someone or something he loved would die. The something refers to a building or something similar *cough Wayne Enterprises cough*. 

- Unlike the Nolan trilogy, the movies would be seperate installments. They wouldn't be directly related. So something similar to the connections between BB, TDK and TDKR won't happen. 

- It will be more comics-orientated. The series will handle a lot of different genres, including Action, Mystery and Horror. The horror part is about the side villain: Man-Bat. Riddler will kidnap somebody random and prepare to turn them into Man-Bat. If Bats solves the puzzle, he will live. If he gets it wrong, then he'll undergo the operation. 

- WB are trying to introduce new villains to the general public, hence Man-Bat. The next part is based on speculation and hints, but the other villains in the franchise will all have either already appeared in a movie(and had their character completely obliverated, like Mr. Freeze) or be completely new (ala Killer Croc, Black Mask and Hugo Strange).

SAW THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN SNEAK PEAK TRAILER AND WITH MORE THAN JUST A TRAILER TONS MORE FOOTAGE! this will be better than Nolans SHIT Knight!lol where do i begin? first we were given 3d Glasses as the trailer was in 3D Free pocorn, soda, Bottled water and spider-man tshirts the line was around two or three blocks, then when we get in the theater there was a white spider-man symbol, and the guy comes out and tells us the trailer is going to start. the thats when the MAGIC happened totaly epic im trying to recover my thoughts with all the footage ive seen , first you see peter in highschool and Flash thompson is bullying a teen Pushing his face in a tray of food Forcing the teen to eat it. then peter jumps in and tells Flash "flash Leave him alone!" and flash is like what did u say? and pete again confidently says Leave him ALONE" then Flash jumps pete starts Kicking him on the floor in front of everyone at school. cut to other scenes of parker in the school Hallway with uncle ben after recieving detention and uncle ben sees gwen in the highschool hall ways and embarrases peter and says "isnt the girl from your computer"? and the uncle ben tells gwen hi this is peter parker im ben his Probation officer."lol there were so many awesome scenes im might not configure them in the right oder but im going to try to put as many in here as i can.lol there was a scene that is Classic Spider-man Spidey has that classic funny wit that Tobey NEVER maguire did. theres another scene where a carjacker is theiveing a car and spider-man is in the backseat and says something to the effect of" you know when your trying to steal a car you shouldnt dress like a theif" lol then the robber says are you a cop? to which spidey says" a cop with this red and Blue outfit do you think i look like a cop?" and another scene where that same theif pulls out a big knife and spider-man feigns coward getting on his kness and begging the robber omg i Scared please put away the knife mister!!" mocking the robber then he shoots him with a web and knocks him out. and pretends like hes Sneezing ACHOO! as if he was sshooting the webs out of his nose.lol there are also s an awesome scene when peter wakes up in the morning after being bitten by the spider and his alarm clock is going off he doesnt wanna get up and he just taps the alarm clock and completley SMASHES IT In two not realizing his own strength!lol then he goes to the bathroom to squeeze the toothpaste to brush his teeth and squeezes it so Hard toothpaste Shoots out everywhere in the bathroom, then he tries to turn the water on in the sink in the bathroom and completely breaks and estroys the whole sink pulling it off the wall. then there were scenes of Captain stacy gwen stacy's dad played by denis leary has put out and apb out on spider-man and considers him a villain and that police should shoot to kill thers one awesome scene where WARNING!! SPOILERS CAPTAIN STACy and his Swat team have Spider-man Captured in handcuffs SWA T TEAM SURROUNDING HIM AND MAJOR SPOILER WARNING!! CAPTAIN STACY PULLS OFF SPIDER-MANS MASK IN FRONT of the swat Team at night AS Soon as Captain stacy takes off his mask Spidey does Swift flipping and Kicking and beats the shit out of the swat team and escapes , now it was at nightime so it wasnt clear if Stacy was able to get a good look at parkers face! but that was EPIC! there also some great scenes which make me wonder if his webs are still organic but just with shooters on them! spidey has these digital circular looking blue and yellow looking shooters on his wrist, that seem like they time the shooting of his webs or something. and there was a cool scene where parker is in his basement whith the shooters testing the elasticity and aim of his webs!! another scene where spider-man is upside down hanging inside the sewers and all of a sudden you see a big giant lizard tail wrapping around his neck and choking him like a boa Constrictor! Curtis connors aka the Lizard looks impressive he kind of reminds me like a Much much greener version of the abomination only with Lizard scales and a Tail!! lizards hans are freaking HUGE like hulk sized in a scene where u see him ripping his fist through cars on the highway at night causing major HAVOC in the city! there are many other scenes with peter in his lo- budget wrestling costume jumping the sky scrapers at night. and another scene with stacy and parker sitting at the dinner table arguing over wether spdey is really or a Villian to the city and stacey says something to the effect of " well if he was a hero he wouldnt wear a mask!" the 3d and visuals in this movie are stunning! ALL AROUND EPIC EXPERIENCE BETTER than ANYTHING SEEN in NOLANS CRAP KNIGHT
