The Man From U.N.C.L.E has been knocking around at Warner Bros. for a long time now, and was originally set to star George Clooney and be directed by Steven Soderbergh until the actor was forced to drop out because of neck surgery. A while ago it was announced that Sherlock Holmes helmer Guy Ritchie was on board to direct, and Tom Cruise was in talks to star. Now Deadline report that it's a done deal, and joining him will be The Lone Ranger himself, Armie Hammer. The original TV series ran from 1964-68, and starred Robert Vaughan and David McCallum as agents of the United Network Command for Law Enforcement, Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin as they battled the evil forces of "Thrush" (sounds nasty). Apparently Hammer would play a version of the role originated by McCallum.
